Sarthak and his peers wanted to help the poors
during this hard time.
On March 22, three days before the whole of India
went into lockdown, Sarthak started his missions
in response to immediate needs of citizens coping
with the pandemic. His
mission was to provide poor communities with
hygiene kits, supply oxygen cylinder to the patients and donate cash relief to daily wagers.
In the first three days, we received over ₹13 lacs
in donations, two days later we were able to
make our first disbursement to NGO partners
who helped us distribute the hygiene kits.
This was just the beginning, the amounts very small to
match the scale of need. People, from all walks of life,
wanted to help. We were inundated with requests about
fundraising. That’s how HelpIndia Foundation was born. And we, at HelpIndia, wanted to harness
this outpouring of compassion and enable the giving. We set
up the India COVID Response Fund on April
10, 2020. Since the HelpIndia has little
overhead, every donation goes deeper into the program to ensure every single person gets food and
hygenic kits.
